I began practicing yoga in 2004 to look for a way to relax, deal with stress, and build mental and physical strength. Over the course of ten years, I practiced several different styles of yoga.

In 2010, I found myself in a power vinyasa yoga studio and that is when I had my “ah ha!” moment. My dedication to yoga began at that moment. Put plainly, yoga has changed my life for the better. Through my practice, I have found inner strength and peace and have increased my strength and flexibility. Less than four months later, I became a certified yoga instructor through Amazing Yoga’s teacher training led by Sean and Karen Conley, specializing in power vinyasa flow.  Since then, I have continued my training, completing Baron Baptiste’s level 1 and 2 teacher training.

I have also had the privilege of attending other trainings to increase my knowledge and practice including training with Greghor Singleton, Clair McDonald and Bryan Kest. On the most basic (and important) level, I became an instructor to share the practice of yoga with others and continue to build the yoga community.

By way of education, I hold a M.Ed. in early intervention from the University of Pittsburgh and have worked with children with developmental delays. While working in the field, I specialized in Applied Behavioral Analysis and worked as a behavioral specialist with children with autism.

When not practicing yoga, I enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with my family.  My husband and business partner Jordan, our two children and I currently live in Oakmont. Sean and Karen Conley along with all of the Amazing Yoga teachers have taught me so much and have inspired me to open Amazing Yoga Oakmont. I look forward to sharing the practice with you.

I began practicing yoga in 2008 on a mat in my living room. It was actually an MTV yoga DVD (I ought to be honest from the beginning). A few years and many Sun A’s later I followed a petite brunette into an Amazing Yoga studio (it was Sarah) to take my first “real” class. That class cleared up many misconceptions I had of yoga and opened my eyes up to that completely physically exhausted yet mentally clear feeling you get after an AY class.

From then on, my typical workout of strength training and cardio evolved into a consistent yoga practice. Not only did the powerful Amazing Yoga classes help build strength and cardiovascular fitness but my body also felt good after I was done. This was quite a contrast to the years of bench presses and pavement pounding runs where my body was left aching.

After years of practicing, marrying that petite brunette, having two children and coming to greatly respect Sean and Karen Conley, Sarah and I decided to bring the Amazing Yoga community to Oakmont. Together, we hope to share the invigorating and powerful practice of yoga with the community we call home.

When I’m not practicing yoga, I am bringing health and wellness programs to companies. By education, I am an epidemiologist (long for nerd) and have a passion for preventing things like Type 2 diabetes. One day, I hope skiing, food and my family take up 100% of my time (yoga too).

My first encounter with yoga was in 2003, when I decided to do a 1-credit yoga class in college, just for fun. It was not until 2009 when I first stepped into a hot yoga class. Having sciatic nerve pain and trying to find ways to alleviate the pain was one reason I started regularly practicing yoga. My first hot yoga class was tough – I did not think I would make it through the entire 75 minutes. To my surprise, however, I felt energized and calm, and had some relief from my physical pain. At that point, I could not wait to go back for another class – I was hooked.

I decided to become a teacher, to share my enthusiasm for the practice of yoga and to help others see and feel the same physical and mental transformations that I had experience for myself.  In January 2013, I completed Level 1 Teacher Training here in Pittsburgh, with Amazing yoga.  Then in August 2014 I completed Level 2 Teacher Training in Costa Rica.

I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor degree in Nutritional Science.  When I am not teaching yoga, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  I live in Natrona Heights with my husband Eric and our son Noah.

Having dabbled around with a few different kinds of yoga throughout college, I first found power vinyasa yoga at Amazing Yoga in early 2012 while I was looking for a “good workout.”  Convinced that it would be a supplement to the other forms of exercise I was doing at the time, I bought a 5 class pass, and took all five classes in that first week. I’ve barely missed a day since!

It wasn’t long before I realized that yoga had changed me not only physically, but in so many other ways too. It has made me a better person than I ever could be without it. On a day to day basis, my yoga practice has helped me to let go of things I can’t change, to live in the moment, and to not sweat the small stuff. The Amazing Yoga community has brought the most amazing people into my life as well, so many of whom I’m now proud to call my friends.

In 2013, I attended the Baptiste Institute’s Level 1 teacher training in upstate New York and began teaching shortly afterwards. I took Level 2 in October 2015 in Sedona also through the Baptiste Institute. My practice and teaching style is inpsired by many different teachers, lineages, and styles of yoga and I am committed to learning and fine-tuning my skills as a yoga instructor and practictioner!

I grew up in a small western PA town and have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree from Point Park. I enjoy live music, a good road trip, and an early morning practice before the sun comes up!

My first experience with yoga was spring of 2016, shortly after Amazing Yoga Oakmont opened. My husband and I had recently became residents of Oakmont and I liked the idea of being able to walk to a local “work out experience.” So, I tried AYO having no clue yoga could be so challenging yet, rewarding, exciting yet, calming, HOT yet, soothing at the same time. I immediately fell in love with the practice, even the sweat!

Since then, I have come to understand that vinyasa power yoga is so much more than powerful, flowing sequences, but about pursuing the present, surrendering to the moment and practicing the art of quieting the mind through breathing during physical effort.

My life is better because of yoga. My body feels better because of yoga. My total well-being is better because of Amazing Yoga!

I’m so thankful to be a part of this community and I hope to be an inspiring addition as I bring and offer my own uniqueness and the goodness within me.

I completed my Level One Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training through Amazing Yoga under the teaching and guidance of Sean and Karen Conely in the South Side of Pittsburgh September 2018.  I am currently pursuing my 200 hours with Open Up Pittsburgh over the course of 2020.

I first tried yoga when I was in college and took a few classes here and there but never really stuck with it. I was very into running at the time and focused mostly on training and running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon a few years in a row. After a few injures set me back I needed a new form of exercise that was less stressful on my body. Amazing Yoga Oakmont had just opened and a friend convinced me to try out the class and sign up for a month. It was like no other yoga class I had tried before and I was hooked. It was heated, fast paced and tough. I remember 15 minutes in wondering if I could make it through the full class. It challenged me physically, mentally and emotionally and was exactly what I needed.

Yoga has helped me with my chronic pain, anxiety and my overall health and has become part of my routine. It has been a total transformation of mind and body for me as I have become physically and mentally stronger. Its effects can be felt on and off the mat as it has helped me let go of things out of my control, taught me patience and helped me to be more present in life.

After a few years of practice I decided go through the Amazing Yoga teacher certification program so that I could help others feel the benefits of yoga. It was an awesome experience and I’m thankful to be able to share this practice with everyone!

By way of education, I have BS in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. When I’m not practicing yoga, I like to read, watch a documentary on pretty much anything and enjoy spending time with my friends, family and my cats.

I started a regular yoga practice in 2010 after dabbling in various yoga classes and workouts where nothing really stuck. The first class at Amazing Yoga grabbed my attention like nothing else had. The heat and challenging power flow continues to have a profound impact on my life today. There's a sense of stability, relief, and peace that I can find on my mat and nowhere else. I learn something new with every class...whether I'm practicing or teaching.

With the intention of deepening my practice, I trained with Amazing Yoga in Tulum in 2014. Once the week of training ended, I wanted to help create the positive experience that I'd had through yoga for others. I went for additional Level 2 training in Costa Rica in 2016.

Outside of yoga, I love cooking veggies, spending time with my family, all-things health & wellness, and walking around barefoot as much as possible...which pairs well with teaching yoga.

I first started practicing yoga in February 2018 to help with the stress and anxiety I was dealing with in my life at the present time.  At first, I thought to myself, “no way, this isn’t for you” but I called a few studios in the area and I instantly connected with Sarah from AYO. She was very welcoming and I just knew this is the place I needed to be.

My first class was amazing! It was one of the toughest, but most rewarding forms of exercise I have ever done. I used to take spin classes and practice Tang Soo Do karate regularly, but yoga was so much more rewarding. After a few classes I knew this was for me, and I signed up for a monthly membership. Physically and mentally this has been the best I felt since I was in my 20’s, and I’m 52 years young! Since I’ve been practicing, my anxiety and stress level has all but disappeared.

With the recommendation from Sarah I took my level 1 teachers training in September 2019 at Amazing Yoga under the direction of Sean and Karen Conley.  I look forward to passing on all I have learned and experienced with current and new students!

After high school I decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. I spent two years living in Japan and traveling all over the Asian Pacific region before finishing my enlistment in Texas.
